#17045, "taking off window surrounds (outside)"

OK I can get them off from arround the front and back, but how do I take them off from around the two small back windows and also at the bottom of the drivers and passengers window. I am talking about the rubber things on the outsied of the the car not sure how to explain it better. I realy need to get these off so I can sand and primer the car better, you can see scratches under the primer where the rubber was blocking me from sanding better and it looks bad.

You can't easily take the moldings off from the back window, or front under the door window. You just have to tape very very carefully...

well hmm that sux realy bad.... what about getting new ones because the ones I have are all fadded and beat up I need them to look good for shows. Also I am doing a color change so I need to paint very well and I think tapping them off would not work as well. Seems like I am screwed. Mikey yeah I know I may have to keep them alil longer then planned my body kit is not going to be ordered as soon as I thought.

Taping it off worked fine for both me and icj eclipse, as long as you tape real good. I think you can take it off somehow, but it destroys it so you have to get a new one. I have no idea how it's attached though. You may have to take apart the door. Taping it off should be ok, that's what we do on most cars where the moldings are not easily removable.

You can also try to repaint em black, or use a marker hehe. They wanted to repaint mine, but I was too lazy to tape up my car yet again just to paint those moldings pure black. Mine are in decent shape.
