I just bought a Combat front bumper from this guy who just had it on his 97 RS and my question is should I put it on and ride around with it on for a while b4 I get it painted or since he already had it on his car should I or shouldn't I worry about it and just get the darn thing painted and istall it? Lemme know bc I have an appointment to get it painted & installed today. thx

might not be new to him, but it's new to you, and you probably want it to look its best, I would get it painted, unless the paint on it looks great already in which I would just get it installed

I am deff gonna get it painted but I was wondering if i should install it and ride around with it on so that any spiderwebs that might form will come out b4 I get it painted or that is only for new new body kits? I didn't specify in my first post sorry.

since you mentioned spiderwebs, I assume it's a urethane bumper, you can't work spider webs out really, when you get it painted, and you scrape hard, the bumper will bend, the paint will stretch, and it will look bad..the only thing I can think of to help cut down on spiderwebs is make sure the people that are painting your ride use a good quality of paint that can take the abuse.

Nope its a fibreglass front. Ive just heard that if you get it painted without riding around with it on to strech it out as much as possible b4 you get it painted the spiderwebs will form. But since this bumper has already been on a car and been streched out will I have to do that with mine since it might have a diff fit. Or is that just for new bumpers that have never been installed?

the only reason people dont get them painted first is because usually the ront ends dont fit without modification...if it has been on another eclipse then obviously it fits so therefore you can paint it and install it....for urethane you have to use a special flexible paint...

DEFINITELY install it before you paint it. Just cus it was on another eclipse doesn't mean that it won't have stress points on your car (you might not use the exact same mounting points etc). The fiberglass can spider web crack at the surface (where the gel coat is). So I would deinitely install before painting. My rear end had so much stress in it, I had to add a lot of fiberglass reinforcement, and I kept getting cracks in the exact same spots for a while, until I bondo'd it good enough, and reinforced it from behind. It installed fine, but when you drive around, it can start to show where the stress points are.
