Yes, there are HID kits cheaper than the autolamps kit BUT you get what you pay for. If all you are interested in is the color, go ahead and get them Ebay K2/vision/eaglite kits. If you want quality stuff that fits and is durable, then get the autolamps kit (which by far has the best retro kit in terms of standards and quality)

Oh, i just saw a pic one of those ebay kits with a hack job rebased D2S bulb. The damm based melted. Ouch. Like i said, you get what you pay for.

There is nothing wrong with the color of the autolamps kit. I was saying that if you want more usable light (lumens) and quality, stick with the 4100K autolamps kit. The 6000K ultinon bulbs have less usable light(less lumens) and have a more bluish hue (higher temperature K) than the 4100K standard bulbs. If you want HID's for a more showy purpose, those K2 kits with a range of colors will be your better bet.
Also, don't buy into advertizing that say that sell >6000K kit. THere is no such thing as a 8000K,12000K HID bulb that i see some vendors touting on ebay.

I don't have any personal experience with the K2 kits. I have read one other DSMer saying that he had the K2 kit. He thinks the kit is ok for the price but had some problems with it not lighting up sometimes. He also said that if he did it over again, he'd go with the autolamps kit coz it was more complete w/ relays. What i learnt is that there are complaints about those ebay kits and and i haven't found one complaint about the autolamps kit other than it is more expensive than the ebay kits.
