I currently have (as seen int he picture) a Tan and black interior with power windows and locks and such. This means I have the two peice vinyl and plastic doors. I am going to convert my entire interior to black. Anyway, I have already used vinyl spray and sprayed the vinyl in the pictrure below, Black.

I used PlastiKote black 411 spray I picked up at Discount Auto Parts. It's holding up well, however the color doesn't match the factory black dash 100%, I'd say maybe like 98%. Theres justa slight different tint to it. But anyway...

Ok see this picture below... Where the red dots are, this is a plastic panel I need to seperate from the rest of the door so that I can sand it down to a smooth finish and then have painted by my local body shop high gloss black. So here is the delema... I remove the door from the car and flipped over and looked at the other side. It looks as though this plastic peice is held on by plastic stems that have been melted at the tip, to make a flat head on them. (kinda like a nail would look like)

I imagine I would have to cut this flat head off to remove this plastic panel from the rest of the door, but how would I get them back on? Has anyone done this before me?

if you wanna do that, just take the panel off and tell the shop to tape everything off.

seems like a waste of money to get a shop to do it when you can easily do it yourself, unless someone can hook you up

You'll see when I'm done. I already have my interior pictured in my head, looks great.

what i did with mine(same doors as yours), i just cut that piece that was melted over and then went to Wal-Mart and got some small screws,than got two sets of washers, one set to fit over the screw and one bigger but a little bit bigger on the inside, then once i was done, just drilled a little starter hole and then put the screws and washers in. then your done.

take out the door panel and you will see how its held there on the rear side of the panel to take it off

no he means you cant take it off, the pieces dont seperate because the plastic portion is press melted onto the top. you might consisder painting them the same color, it really does look better that way because the contrast is not uniform, its just a curved line. plus its easier, thats the exact reason i did it the same color and im glad i did now.

Thanks guys, I have chopped all of the plastic pressmelted heads off, removed lower portion from the door and have sanded it down to a glassy finish. Off to the painting booth tommorow.

I am using screws witha big flat head to reattach the plastic peice, I'll get you guys some photos asap.

The webcam shots do it no justice. Now that I have sprayed all of my vinyl black, and got the lower portion of the door primered and painted high gloss, my entire door is now black instead of tan!
