how do you take off the stock mast antenna (non-power)? chiltons said take off the retaining bolt and then unscrew the antenna. the only problem with that is the damn retaining bolt will not come off. when i turn it everything else turns with it.

I shaved off my antenae, so heres how ya do it...

Once you disconnect the antenae wire, removed all visible bolts, you will see that the antenae is loose, the last step is to put your hand on the base of the antenae (little black circle) from the top of the car and twist the lower half inside of your trunk.

The little black circle that has the screw that your LONG factory antenae goes onto, that is the last screw, in disguise. Twist the black circle thing off!

i tryed taking all the wires off and twisting in opposite directions. it didnt work. i have another antenna to put on so would it be possible to cut off the black circle at the base of the antenna (the one on the outside with 2 notches on it right?) or do i still need it? and also are the shaft and that black circle one piece or two? i can not get one to turn without the other.

Yes, It would be possible, but TOTALLY unnecessary. I made a picture to show you exactly where to twist to have the antenae come apart.
Hold the antenae from underneath the hatch while twisting the black circle from above, exactly where the red arrow is poiting in the picture below.
