#15394, "Question about 95-96 headlights"

Ok, I know there is a common problem with 95-96 headlights yellowing and getting condensation, but is there any way to clean them? I have one that is shiney, and another that is yellow, looks terrible when the lights are on. Also one of my fog lights has a chip in it and it's now doing the same thing. I don't want to change to 97+ lights even though everyone say too, and they're better. I kind of like my 96 because there aren't as many of them around. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. Those things are over $300 from the dealer new! Thanks.

Turtle Wax Polishing Compound. An application every month or so will keep them nice and clear.

I have already used polishing compound with pumiss(sp?) in it and it didn't really help. It is definately on the inside of the lense.

MY HEADLIGHTS WERE THE SAME BUT ME I TOOK MY WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY OUT. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE SIDES OF THE BUMPER OUT TO GET THEM OUT AND THERE IS THIS AGGRAVATING BOLT BEHIND THE BUMPER. THERE ARE 4 BOLTS HOLDING THE LIGHTS ON. WHEN YOU GET THE HEADLIGHT OUT YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THE NOT SO CLEAR LENS IS GLUED TO THE BEZEL OR WHATEVER YOU CALL IT. THIS IS THE TRICKY PART AS YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL BUT TRY TO GET THE CLEAR PLASTIC TO COME OFF OF THE HOUSING IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME, BUT IT WILL COME OFF. AFTER I GOT MINE OFF I WASHED THEM THOUROUGHLY. I THEN USED EAGLE 1 POLISH TO POLISH THEM MAKE SURE YOU RUB THE POLISH IN REALLY GOOD AND PUT 2-3 COATS ON THERE. ONCE YOU ARE DONE YOUR HEADLIGHTS WILL BE CLEAR AGAIN. MAKE SURE YOU USE SOME SILICONE WHEN PUTTING THE HEADLIGHTS BACK TOGETHER. AND DONT PUT THE BOLT IN THAT GOES BEHIND THE BUMPER LEAVE THIS BOLT OUT SO IF YOU EVER HAVE TO REMOVE THE LIGHT AGAIN YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM. OH ONCE YOU SEPERATE THE LENS FROM THE HOUSING THERE IS A NOT SO CLEAR PIECE THAT IS IN FRONT OT THE TURN SIGNALS DO AWAY WITH THAT I DID. NOW AT NIGHT MY LIGHT LOOK JUST LIKE THE ONES ON A 97 UP ECLIPSE HOPE THIS HELPS.
