once the crack gets too big (as it sounds) its pretty hard to repair it without it being noticable. you could probably get a new one installed for a couple hundrend bucks.

I just cracked my windshield as well. Here's what i did...
Next to my shop i have an auto upholstery and glass shop, and i'm close with them. I asked them what to do and they said to call your insurance, and that all you I would pay is the 100 deductible. Apparently out windshields are very expensive compared to other cars... anyways i called the insurance and I told them my glass was broken, then they askde me what shop i wanted to use, so they faxed over the papers and everything and told me to go get the windshield repaired at the shop and all i'd pay was the deductible. Luckily the glass guys were cool about the whole thing and never collected the deductible, since i let them park in my parking spots... ha ha ha!!
so yeah the moral of the story is to call the insurance company then all you will pay will be $100 deductible to the glass shop. Also if the windshield broke cuz it was your fault, lie and tell them a rock hit it or something or they won't pay to fix it... (if anyone asks i never told you to lie)
