been lurking around here for awhile reading through everything.. nice board.. emoji i saw hondahater's post about using leds and hvac.. and how people were having brightness issues. this was corrected by using a 560ohm resistor as opposed to a 3~~ohm resistor.. feeding it more power is good! emoji anyway, i went ahead and did the hvac and the rest of the buttons in that area.. i threw together a quick howto page for anyone who wants to check it out.. props to hondahater for coming up with the inital concept! emoji

it would probably help if i gave the link

What about lengevity of the LEDs? I know they can handle more power but can also burn out from it quickly... like the LED will light without the resistor... jst only last for a handful of seconds probably.

Nope, when you do the correct mathmatical conversion you will find that you should be running 500-600ohm resistors at about 1/4watt. However, the 1/4watt resistors would potentially overheat so its best to use a 1/2watt.. BTW: The site is back up now.

Outstanding... I was too lazy to go and get my old physics notes out to get the equation out. My interior is looking a little funny with Blu eindiglo gauge faces blue autometer gauges blue and red stereo and blue S-AFC and then amber HVAC. also need to change the light on my odometers.

umm not to be a party pooper, but you must not be lurking well enough emoji but hondahater wasnt the one to come up with the initial idea.. nor was i, but it was poplife who did and i was able to take it alittle further and also provide much help to those that questioned.. but non the less welcome and nice work... hondahater has contributed much to the led conversions too, so props to him too of course.

Why does everyone do blue? Anyone done a nice bright red lighting version?

Also is there an easy way to get the numbers in the speedometer to be colored too without getting new indiglo version or whatever?

Credit goes to iamnotwhoiam, he helped me out beg time when I needed it (doing to LED conversion). So anyway the 500 something ohm resistors would work better? The LED shines brighter? I really don't want to get back into my cluster and change out all the LEDs but I guess I could if the brightness was drastically increased. Got any pics?

k i tried it, but it didnt seem as brigh as before.. but then i got to thinking.. to make the led brigher wouldnt you want more power going to it.. if so the 560 reduces it too low and the 330 accually sends more power to the led thus making it brigher.. this in conjunction with my 3.7volt 20mA Blue Led... strange..
