#14926, "possible chance to smack-a-cop??? Clear tails"

OK, when I had clear tails on, I got pulled and was told they are illegal. HOWEVER... I looked today. They have a DOT #! I thought anything that got a dot # was in fact legal no matter what? The law books here say clear lights. The hwy patrol would say legal, u have red lights with clear LENSES. I was pulled over and told an officer that. He said, I don't care what hwy patrl says, clear lights are illegal, I was like yeah, so why'd u pull me then? I got red lights, clear lenses. Finally I told him, I would not take them off because someone needed to get their shit str8. And furthermore, after being told my car was legal after the head of the hwy patrol station checked it out personally, he could either give me a ticket, or go home, and I said give me a ticket if you want, but I'll have u in court and win easily. I wish I would have noticed the DOT # b4. Doesn't that make it legal? That's my main question.

Well there are things that are NOT dot approved yet they put a fake DOT number on there, like a lot of the altezza tail lights. Clear tails CANNOT be DOT approved no matter what because they need to have a red reflective square (like on the stock tailights). The law says it has to be red. BTW, can everyone be a bit descriptive in their titles. I added (Clear tails) to your's, so that people can know what you are talking about before opening...thanks

In Illinois the law states that there must be a red colored reflector... this makes all clear tail lights illegal, but altezzas are legal. This is the way it is in most states. so in order to be legal you have to have SOME red in your tails.

doesnt DOT approval just mean they are safe to use... but doesnt make them legal in all states..

like they arent harmful or someish like that.. someone said something about it once i just dont remember what it was.

most statues say that you have to have a red reflective in your tail noticeable from like 1000ft away.

I love dino and 2gnt. ####ers (my word) bliz stole it but i let him borrow it
