just kidding, I don't need that. The fact is I might be needing a windshield soon. I was driving on the freeway and got hit by a rock, its a small star now, but by vibrations, door closing and such it will probably end across my windshield. Is there anything out there to prevent it from breaking more, I thought I heard about a certain kind of glue or spray just for the time being. Otherwise, how much do windshields for our cars go for$$$$$, and where is a good place to get them from?

there is a kit that is supposed to fix/cover it up, it looks like a syringe with some glue in it and it is supposed to fix it so you can barely see any mark at all, ive seen it everywhere in the automotive dept.

YEP I actually have installed windshields. We used a dremel w/ a dentist type drill. We drilled through the first layer of the shield and then used a kit similar to those in auto stores. To cure it we had an ultraviolet light. I'm not sure how good the store stuff is, but I'd gues that there pretty close to the same. Don't try to fix it if it's a crack or bigger than a coin. It won't go disappear but, done right it will only look like a pit in the windshield. BTW if you call somebody, they won't fix it (at least its a Midwest law) if the star is in driver's line of sight.

Well we replace windshields at my shop, and your best bet is to replace it. Your chip is too big to fix, and it will just get worse. If you have comprehensive insurance coverage, go through your insurace. Hopefully, you have a low deductable which many if not all glass shops will cover for you. I know we cover up to 150 bucks of your deductable, so think about that. Most insurance companies give you up to 6 windshields a year to replace. If you don't have the coverage, then look into a used window, most glass shops will even look for you, expect to pay anywhere from 150 bucks on up.
