Hey guys I noticed on my dads BMW 540i AUTOMATIC tranny, the shifter looks just like a manual tranny shifter. It even has the boot and the knob (the button to change from Drive to Reverse to Neutral, etc is on the other side of the knob so it is "hidden")

Now im not saying that i or anyone else that has an auto necessarily wishes he /she had a 5 speed, but wouldnt be cool to make that on the A/T ECLIPSE?

I was thinking of buying the boot ( i found a place while browsing the net) and then attaching it the shifter. I only want to now find a shifter in the shape of a 5 speed shift knob. Or maybe i could get it from a wrecked BMW cause i love the wood look especially if i could get a wood dash kit. Only prob is that i wonder about the O/D button too. Anyone got ideas?

anyone else think it would be cool? Please dont flame me if you dont like it.

I have been considering getting a white shoft boot and just slipping it over the A/T shifter. I know where Park, Nuetral and drive are, I dont need no stinkin' lights!

I say thumbs up. Get a razo gun grip knob and a boot. Kinda like oh that's tight, wait it's auto?!?!?!?!? Most people already think my car is a str8 by the sounds and looks. Then they say damn, I didn't even know. So, chances are, everyone will be shocked. It's a nice element of surprise I guess. Besides, a colored boot and knob would be better than the stock plastic shiznit going on in it now imo.

thanks for the support, but i have a 1 question. I love the pushdown OBX shift knob for Autos but i dont know if it had an O/D button. And if it doesnt, then what can i do. Also, how would i attach the shift boot into the suto shifter. Would I have to take that plate off that says all the positions and try to slip it underneath? help appreciated. And check out the site in the 1st post to see the knob im taking about.
