#13959, "paint job info?"

OK. I am just wondering how this works. If I were to paint my car, outside, and all the inside stuff, door jambs, under hood, hatch and etc. How much would it probably cost? I am thinking of a greyish blue, maybe baby blue/purple pearl color. Do they have to pull the motor out and everything? Or just cover it up? This is for my new car when I get it in hopefully a few weeks or months. Hopefully weeks or days tho. TIA

Depends on where you go. It can range from 1500 to 4000 depending on quality of the job etc. I think shops in your area probably charge more than here. Figure on paying at least 2k. They don't usually take out the engine (which would be a LOT more labor). They usually just paint the fenders, underside of hood, and in the front near the radiator. And for door jams and trunk, they paint all the visible parts. It will take time, and they will probably paint the inside stuff first, then the outside. That's about it I think. Any questions, lemme know...

so, the engine bay would not match>? That's not cool. They'd have to pull my motor unless I pulled it and towed the car in. right? This is for later on if I get the gsx.

No, the engine bay would not completely match. Almost everyone does it this way. Some people do pull the engine, but that means pulling all the accessories etc that are in the way. That would be at least 500-1000 extra labor. Here is a pic of my engine bay:

There is a guy down here that will pull out the motor and do everything including the installation of a kit for 1500. But they do have to pull the motor out. I think cars look crappy if you change the color but not the engine bay.

it really depends on which colors. I have seen some cars that the old color actually matches and coordinates really nice with the new color. I was thinking of baby blue/purple pearl with silver, so the silver bay wouldn't be bad.

does it cost more for a color change? i mean is there more labot involed in doing it. i would really like to have my car painted silver.

if i don't get it painted silver i would like to add some kind of pearl when i repaint it or something to make my black car a little nicer. how much more does it cost to add a pearl or something along those lines.

Doing a color change costs as much as a repainting the car the same color, except if you have to redo the engine bay and door jams, it will be at least 500 more to change colors. Painting just the exterior a different color and no door jams etc. is really ugly though.
