im looking to get the blitz body kit and i heard different things about urethane and fiberglass..what would be my best choice to get could someone please tell me..thanks

personally i would say fiberglass. our front and rear bumper are made out of that and it makes for easy crack repair, and when someone taps it on accident, it doesn't do any damage. plus you don't have to worry about the front breaking if you pull up to close on a curb. the fiberglass just bends. though urethane is stronger, i would still prefer fiberglass.

But make sure you get a good quality fiberglass, something handlaid

urethane is more durable tho. It keeps it's shape and very flexible and bendable. That's why they are so expensive, ie., bomex and stillen front ends are so expensive. er, bomex is fiberglass nevermind, but still, the one that comes to mind is Stillen front end. Anyways, ya the urethanes are hard to do work on cause if they arent shaped right when u fit them on ur car, it's a bitch to try and make it bend and flex to fit the proper shape u want. So u have to get a urethane bumper that has a good shape and minimal body work to it. Fiberglass is so much easier to repair and fix., however not as strong as urethane. You get what u paid for, kinda thing if that makes any sense. Fiberglass cracks and breaks way easier than urethane. Plus you have to prep the paint better for urethane, cause u need a different type of paint setup because the urethane bumpers bend and flex, making the paint spiderweb more and crack... So, u need more body and paint work to prep and fit a urethane bumper, but if I had the money I would do things right the first time and get a urethane bumper. I would not go fiberglass. But for cheeper and practical reasons, and for obvious daily driving...I would go with fiberglass.


btw...i dont think our stock bumpers are fiberglass as someone said. I beleive they are urethane. correct me if I am wrong tho. Unless I have a aftermarket cheap replacement for my front end, mine is urethane. There is a small fiberglass patch I have behind my crack, which tells me that I cracked a pre-existing crack in front end....so that's why I think our bumpers are urethane.

stock bumpers are ureatane.. i dont know who said fiberglass but i threw my stock one around haahahaah.. adn it was fine

Yep the stock bumpers are urethane, I went out there and kicked my car to make sure, the thing bent in then came back out, the guy above me said it was fiberglass

actually evan u add hardener to all paint. when ur painting urethane u need to add a flex agent, cuz the urethane moves and bends. This keeps it from spiderwebbing... well makes it have less spider webs. Its kind of a hard question to ask cuz they both have ups and downs. mainly. if u get fiberglass u will crack it. Thats all there is to it. but the nice thing is fiberglass is easily repairable, and looks better when painted. Urethane is expensive, harder to paint, and tends to lose its shape. Urethane is harder to break or damage, but once u do the bumper is pretty much ruined as its near imposible to repair.

ok quick question here. Uhm I "ripped" my bumper on one of those parking cement things.. (kinda like Mike's ). My question is can I repair it with some fiberglass? If so where do I get it? and how do I go about this?

No, sorry fiberglass and urethane DO NOT mix. Urethane is hard to repair, that's why I like fiberglass for body kits. But urethane is also more durable and flexible for a daily driver. It's all a compromise...

well my front is fiberglass. when i pulled it off to do the headlights, you can see where they layed the fiberglass. i guess mine was a cheap replacement. plus my car had been wrecked in the rear cause the seal around the trunk on the passenger side has bubbled out plus behind the taillight has a bare part.
