#12945, "So I remote started my car in gear...."

...I let my sister inlaw drive my car around with the wife and she dropped it off at my work in front of a barricade. I was getting off duty that morning and remote started it and WHOA! My car jumped and SMACKED rite into the barricade and just kept on ramming into it until I turned her off. My front end got cracked in half and my intercooler fins were dented a little. Oh well time to put back on the 'fishy' looking 96 stock back on, put some orange bulbs in my turn signal and bumper lens and go for that 'sleeper' look. I'll tell ya those fiberglass kits don't protect shit

How does that happen? Dont you have yur e brake on when you park? and dont you have to press on the gas for it to move? even if it is in 1st gear dont you have to press the clutch or it will stall? i just want to kno before i put my remote start kit in

Damn that sucks. This has happened to way too many people. That's why I really think you shouldn't have remote start on a manual. The way they wire it up lets you leave it in gear, and it will move forward even with the ebrake on. And it will keep ramming what ever it hits, so if it hit a person, then you'd probably be charged with assault with a deadly weapon or attempted murder. There is a way to bypass it so it won't start if it's in gear, but I don't know anyone that has hooked it up that way...

Fiberglass bumpers aren't made to protect anything, the bumper underneath that fiberglass is, and if you removed it then blame that emoji

Attempted murder! =)..that would be the shit.."god damn knight rider rice rocket just lunged at me..." At least my car wasn't parked in front of my CO (Commanding Officer's) car or that I'd be in some deep dodo. My bro said he could probably hook up a relay or somethin but i just don't have the time to do it..oh well it's worth the reactions of "wut tha...did your car start up by itself" or "hey bro you left your car on"

I could tell ya a dozen stories about R/S on a 5spd, and destroyed cars. yet, I did it anyway. make sure you set it up so the ebrake must be on, the clutch switch is setup through a relay. buy a 5 dollar magnetic switch and put it on the shifter linkage. if you want a few more safeguards, email me and I can help ya, but they get a little more involved. don't even attempt to have one put on if other people will drive your car alot and leave it in gear. you can never be too carefull... and yes, you can be charged with attempted murder. and yes, insurance will not cover a DIME of it.
