This has been posted in the other thread, but I did this to help make it seen more for others interested and who did not read my reply. I had people ask me about it. So here you go....

I did it myself at a junkyard. FOund 2 celonoids from a 88 oldsmobile for power locks. Put them in the doors, removed the inside door handle assemeby as well (so no one could slimjim it), then I had switches placed on the dash. Left for driver door, Right for pass door. Then I had a hotwire under the truck so that you could connect it to jumper cables if the battery went dead so you could pop the hood and jump the truck. I also had a key switch under the driver's door. If the key was IN and turned, system was unlocked. If the key was OUT, the system was locked and the buttons wouldnt open the doors. The buttons that opened the doors were behind the cab between the bed on both sides. It was a great setup. I loved it, so I am considering doing this to my car very soon actually. I also got some springs and placed them in the bottom right of both doors to help "pop" the door out when the switches released the celenoids to open the doors. The only thing was during the winter the doors sticked alot. haha.

Total cost was $40 to do it myself. Then evan's right, you gotta paint the whole door. Also you gotta find some sheetmetal to use as a base "filler" for the missing door handles. Then you bondo up the rest to make it all match up evenly to paint over. Best benefit of doing it? At jiffy lube when the guys cant figure out how to get in the car. haah. And the best one? When you pull up to pick up your date and shes impressed that she cant get in the car, then you pull out your magic doo-hickey and the door opens for her emoji

thunderous talon mentioned to me earlier tonite that he noticed on all 3 of the shaved eclipse/talons he's seen, that he could spot a ridge or outer line from the metal plate/bondo over it. He also said it's really difficult on a eclipse compared to a square flat-edged truck. Dr Ballsac emoji , have u had this problem? Ur the only one I know who is shaved on the board so do you have an outer line? Who did it and how much? tia

Our shop also shaved the handles on the eclipse with the drift kit (silver with purple pearl) without a prob. Many shops can't shave molding right, so then can't do door handles either since it's right near the edge. True, it's also curved. Bondo will soak in over time, so you need to weld sheet metal and use as little bondo as necessary. Some shops just do pure bondo when shaving moldings etc, and it will eventually crack or soak in so it will form a ridge. The edges will still show. Done right, I say it would cost anywhere from 300 to 600 depending on where you go, not including paint.

Hehe, that one is pure purple pearl, so no pink in it. His car was silver originally, so it was easiest to repaint it silver with a pearl in it.

Wow, just bondo? No welded sheet metal under it? Or fiberglass? That's amazing, most bondo cars around here crack after a while.

actually I did it myself. I welded sheet metal to it and put some fiberglass and nylon, a lil bondo and spent about 3 days doing it to get it very smooth and even with the surface. I swear I can see something there since its my car(havent u notice that since its your car, you can notice evrything wrong even though there is nothig wrong with your car? hehe) but everybody says im crazy cause you cant tell at all. So, my answer to you Kapt Dyke is NO, i dont have that problem....I think hehe

I miss you mom, you are always with me RIP...
