aight fellas, i got me a c/f hood, and i wanna put it on.
i have a huge writeup on installin hood pins if anyone wants to read it i will post it (6 pages from dsmtalk.com).
my question is about the mounting brackets that the stock hood uses. i know i have to take them off, and mount them on the new hood before attatching it to the car. i have no clue on how to get the brackets off tho.
any insight, useful info on the install is really appreciated. im about to do a search, but need answers.

Your hood should have came with a latch. You don't need to take off anything from the stock hood. If it didn't come with a latch (which many hoods don't), then you just have to use straight hood pins and forget about the stock latch. Even if you try to cut off the stock latch on the stock hood, you'd have to do a LOT of fiberglass to get it to stay on the underside of the cf hood (it could be ugly and would probably break off after a while too). Good luck.

sean you dont have to take them off..
there should just be 2 bolts on each hinge.. that hold the stock hood onto the car..
take them off you will need a allen key for them.
then just get a friend and have hold one side of the hood up and if i cna recall so long ago.. u just slide the new hood onto them hinges and put the bolts through line the hood up.. it gives u a left adn right play a little bit.. and bolt them down.. then make sure it latches down and holds the hood.. then worry about your pins..
im guessing ur using the paradox racing one...thatsa goood write up
I love dino and 2gnt. ####ers (my word) bliz stole it but i let him borrow it

Oh ya, for the hinges, you just unbolt them (14 mm if I remember right). Leave the actual hinge attached to the car, and just unbolt it from the hood (i didn't need an allen key). It was just two bolts on each side I think. And have a friend help you align the cf hood, and try to put it on. You'll probably have to adjust it slightly a few times before your hood will be closed perfectly centered.

I'm not looking at the engine bay right now and am not sure what the hinges look like, but could you make a 4 pin hood type deal, where the hood would be completely removable? So there's a pin in each corner, 2 where the pins would normally go and 2 between the strut top and windshield or something? I might get a CF hood soon

bump, and im still lookin for a writeup to walk me through the process. it seems pretty straightforward, but so did the ten step skiinny, and look what that led to.
