#11907, "Interior Painting??????"

Alright, I know this has been asked a thousand times but im too lazy to go search and read all the other ones just to get my questions! HAHA! I'm getting my car painted Midnight Blue in April and i think my car would look better with a painted interior. I just don't know what color i should paint it. Any suggestions?? Also...I need a list of the best paints to use and prices. Also how much would it cost me to get a new head liner and replace all the other cloth stuff in my car (like carpet)? About how many days does this take to do? On a scale of 1-10 how hard is this project? I would probably take everything out...dash..etc. Where can i get a manual that would help me with this part? The panels are no problem...already took all those out to dynamat. Thanks!

ok.. age old questions is right
well first offf dont pay to have ur headliner done.. they try to charge like 100 bucks mines now black and cost prob 10bucks totall

go to fabric store pick out the fab u want.. i used black felt bought i think 1or 2 yards..
i think it was 42"x45" dont member

then go to a autostore and get the best spray on adhesive they have.. they have some made for headliners.. i used crappy kind the firs time .. the next hot FL day it all came apart..

ok so u just spray the headliner and spray the back of the fabric(for a better bond)

then just lay the felt over and push down and smooth it out.. leave a lil extra so u can fold it over.. my boy sewed his up.. but u dont have to.

ok so u keep doing that and then ur done.. nice black headliner.. im still working on the sun visors.. right now they arent in the car..

with paint..

if u going to get ur car painted that color id say use the age old White and color of car..
try to get some of the same paint he used on ur car..

u can buy a lil spray gun and use that paint..

spray ur car parts..and white hmm my boy used kyrlon and it looks good..
but id say use SEMS its about 8 bucks a bottle. but i think is great..

but really if you want id use automotive paint and go all out.. since ur using it on the blue..

it by far looks way better IMO.. it gets costly though..

i dont want to get in how to paint it.. its just long....

hope this helps

I love dino and 2gnt. ####ers (my word) bliz stole it but i let him borrow it

oh the carpet well i dyed mine with vinyl dye.. looked great but if u step on it lots the color comes off not to bad..

so if i have a show coming up i just re doe it and put a towel down..

u can go to www.accmats.com i dont think they have them for our cars though..

i was thinking of buying some good type of carpet mat.. or somethign and just make my own carpet..

i dont know though

Yea that info. helps. Thanks......Where can I get a good manual so i no what im doing when taking off the dash? Also...how many coats of paint and what about a clear coat of some kind after it has dried? Do you have to put anykind of pre-painting spray or anything on the panels?

I found some carpet at a store that looks to be the same texture as the kind already in the car in different colors. Prob. gonna go with that.

On the edges of the headliner do u stick them up under the plastic modeling pieces around the top of the car??

once u fold the headliners new fabric around the existing piece.. the moldings around it cover up the edges so dont worry it will look just fine..

clear coat -- my fav so far is the dupoint (autozone)

use about 3 or 4 coats of paint.. i mean its all on you.. i usualy use maybe 2 or 3
and with the clear use about 3 or more.. its all about how shinny you want it.. the more u use the more shine

u can use this paint adhesive stuff that helps the paint to stick

or just use primer..
