Just curious, could I take the front bumber from a 97 (the new front bumpar) and just bolt it onto my 96?

The '97+up bumper cover will bolt right onto a '95/'96, but you will have a little problem with the headlights. Obviously they are different, so if you keep your '96 they will not fit perfectly, or you can just get '97+up headlights or projectors.

there would be a overlap.. because the 95-96 lights are a bit longer then the 97-99s... id say get the 97stockers(if you can find someone selling them cheap) from satan they are hellla $$$..

but if u have 300 bucks to spend get some projectors..
