Hey all, I just noticed that under extremely bright fluorescent lighting (gas station), I can see fine scratches from washing and waxing. The towel is supposed to be 100% cotton terry cloth, but I dunno. How do I remove these really fine scratches? Or should I not even bother since I will always get more? i can also see it under really bright fluorescent lights.

Hmm well I have access to a professional buffer but I can't use that myself because if you're not careful it will burn right through the paint. So are these fine scratches unavoidable with using a towel? Will waxing with a buffer avoid any swirl scratches? What about when I dry the car? I really don't want to buy a buffer since I won't use it much though...thanks.

how fine are they? b/c i know that companies make swirl removers.. when i waxed my car last friday, it took care of some of the swirls and scratches.. altho, my hood is all chipped to hell from highway driving. but it helped alot.

I used to work for a dealer and what they use is called "Car Brite" its a company that makes all types of waxes and glosses, if you by the pink gloss it will take surface scratches out and is safe for clear coat. This is the stuff dealers use to hide the little scratches when a customer comes to pick up their new car.

buy the "absorber" for drying your car. Its like $10. Also the water blade, which is like a flexible wiper that bends and squegees your car. I think it is like $20. I haven't used either but i am going to buy the absorber very soon.

What's the absorber? Let me know how it works for you, and how much? I do have a chamoise that absorbs water, but I hate using it because it's hard to get it to absorb all of it unless I wipe it like it was a towel.

OK you just got your car painted, have you washed it since you got it back? if not thats why you have swirls. Detailing is my job BTW. anyway what you want to do is use a good car wash soap "Meguiras #00" And then use there #9 swirl mark remover and after like 3 coats of that shit use there Show Car Galze 2 times and then about 3 good coats of there Hi Tech yellow past wax. then you should be ok if you keep it clean and free of dirt.

Ya I washed it already and used Meguiar's Gold Class Wax. Under normal lighting, I can't see the fine scratches at all. Like outside the supermarket, they have bright lights, but I couldn't see scratches. It was only under the super bright gas station fluorescent lighting that I could see it clearly. Would use Meguiar's #29 mirror glaze polish help get out the scratches? What does polish do exactly? I don't know anything about detailing cars...

Ian is right, I have both the Absorber and the blade and work very good. Marcus, the Absorber is sold at Wal Mart and it comes in a plastic tube and comes in all kinds of colors. I got the blade from Costco, it comes in a package of two, a big one and a small one and it costs $20. I have about 15 or 16 coats of wax in my car since it came out of the shop and let me tell you that I can spray paint any part on my car and I can just wipe it off with no problem. I wash my car with only water because soap takes away wax coats. Even though there are products out there I still use just water. I also use Black Magic antidust wax. Its a spray I use in between waxes that brightens the last coat of wax making your car look even shinier(SP?).

it could be the directionality of the lighting. During the day, the backscattered sunlight from the sky may wash out the effects of the scratch marks. There may be nothing that can be done about it.
But then, I'm not a real car specialist, I only play one on the Internet...
