So I went to get into my car this morning and the door handle just broke right off! I know the car is 10 years old, but wtf?

Has this ever happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix it? Should I just bite the bullet and get a new handle mechanism from satan, or is it worth taking it apart and trying to gorilla glue the shit out of it?

yes this is very common for our cars. i just got one from a junkyard, painted it, and put it on in like 10 minutes. i wouldnt recommend glueing it, if you gonna take the time to take it out to do that, just replace the damn thing.

I have a ebay handle on my door. It was like $15 and it has held up for about a year now. You can buy this http://www.rcaz.com/rcaz/sub%20indexes/doorhandlefix/index.htm from AZDvae to reinforce the handles so it wont happen again.

Autozone sells them for like 25 bucks. I had to buy one from them.

Get a factory one, you may have to paint it, but its worth it.

I was NOT happy with the Advance ones, and it broke more often than factory ones.

My driver's side broke twice and the passenger side once while the car was under the 3 year warranty....never had one break since....knock on wood! If it does ever break, I'll be sure to use that kit.

I am going to buy a new handle from Mitsu at some point this week and have it sprayed.

its happened to me aswell. im pretty sure everyone has had it happen haha. one guy i know went through about 4 handles in a year so he just shaved the door handles instead of having to replace them so often.

That is pretty cool, but from the picture it looks like the actual handle is not aluminum and just the frame part is..

I've had both handles break off twice already since i've owned my 2G, so i've been through a total of 4 and currently have a broken drivers side handle. It's an annoying problem and from what i've noticed the ebay ones don't seem to last long so try to stick with factory replacements. Does anyone know whatever happened to the all metal door handles some guy was gonna put into production?

Why does everyone keep mentioning buying a new handle first and then also buying my repair kit?

The whole point of my kit is to re-use your old handle parts and thus avoid completely the new handle purchase and repaint headaches/cost.

BTW, my kit repairs both the OEM handles or the cheap ebay ones too because they are all going to break someday.

The Chinese "knock-off" handles duplicate the exact same stress riser that causes the failures in the OEM handle (plus the Chinese ones don't sit flush with the door properly like the OEM handles).

Can your hinges support 80 lbs of concrete mix?

I have had 4 2gnt's and still have 2 of them......I have yet to break a handle.

Even my sister hasnt broken hers. Its a door handle, quit using it to pull your car forward!

Best solution IMO is to shave the door handles I'm going to do that someday. Maybe you'll see my azdave modded old handles in the BST forum someday

Those aluminum ones a few posts up do the trick long term. But I've seen cheapo replacements at Advance, Autozone, etc. If any of those places offer a lifetime warranty on it you'd be set..except for paint.

Autozone now carries replacement handles in the HELP section

very few help parts carry warranties and those that do usually only come with a year warranty. Some do come with the so called lifetime warranty but you gotta pay close attention to how those places get you. Most of the time when it says limited lifetime warranty, it only covers manufacturer defects.
