i haven't seen any eclipse done this way. but i have seen other cars. it's called Matte. not sure of price compared to regular paint. the clear might cost alittle more as it's specific to the type.

You can use a regular urethane paint or if you want a nice job, use a house of kolor UBC black base coat, then get any clear you want to use and mix in a product called OMNI...it matt's down the clear so its dull like that and flat looking.

I'd call that a satin more than a flat, but would be VERY sexy on a 2g. listen to Mike, he knows his shit when it comes to painting.

How many colors has your car been now mike?

as long as its done the RIGHT way it would look good.
as long as you use a "Matte" clear and not just a black primer it can still be waxed and polished like any other paint and that give you your nice Satin look

WidebodyMike is very VERY sensitive when it comes to his 68 color rainbow paintjob! the paint actually weights more than the original sheetmetal.

back on topic: our '59 fairlane as well as my eclipse have both been painted with FLATZ a hot rod paint for over a year now and it has held up very well without chalking up or showing wear. Google search JD blitz black also which provides the 30degree satin look that everyone wants now-adays. And no I would not wax and polish it, lol

you can wax that stuff, but don't try to use normal wax, it'll look like complete shit. you have to use the spray wax for when you're drying the car. I use that on the textured roof of the Porsche and it always comes out looking great.

Nice paint it looks like dry carbonfiber HKS has an all CF evo.

There's an 2g over at tuners painted same way, but it looks more flat.

I just picked up a GSX with a DuPont Flat Black paint job. I haven't seen it in person, as I'm overseas. But from the pictures, I'm not a fan of it. Dulls out the lines of the car.

It's totally frictionless. your eyes just slide right off of it

the flat black would look better on the above car if it weren't for the hacked bumper and blacked out lamps. the car needs a little contrast

I agree, keep stock tails or the german euro 2g tail lights ones with yellow rear turn signals. Paint your calipers yellow or red would contrast it abit also.

Flat black is great but I would paint my 2G a flat gun metal, with yellow calipers, stock tails and stock body too.

Agree with you both ^^^. Once the car gets cleared by the mechanic it's going to get painted back to black with the 2gb body. Just hope I don't have to hack up the bumper too much to get that core to fit.

you shouldn't have to do much cutting on the front bumper. All you really gotta do is cut out that black grill looking thing in the opening and you should be good to go.

that eclipse that is flat black gives me a headache. too much black on it. It would look better if there were some contrasts to it. the civic at the top has an awesome paint job. there is a flat clear you can get too. I forgot what it was called but I have seen it used b4.
