#102465, "Help! how to change reverse lights"

How do you replace the reverse lights in a 98 eclipse?
What fuse controls these lights, and where would i find that fuse?

HERE THE LONG STORY:
Something really weird happened to me today...
I went to a Meineke shop in LI NY, to get my car inspected(State DMV). The mechanics took my car, and then when they showed up again, they gave me the news that my reverse lights were out!
WTF! I know they were OK, when i left for work this morning. Doesn't this sound F'ed up, the 2 of them are out!

My registration sticker is about to run out, i got to figure this out pronto.

For starters, it takes a couple screws at each lens to remove the lens and gain access to the bulb. I doubt both bulbs died at the same time on the same day. More common than that is the reverse light switch shitting the bed.

The switch is located on the front of the transmission, under the battery. Remove your intake piping and look at the front of the transmission. It's going to be just about the only doo-hicky with wires going to it that goes into the trans.

Good luck. Mine have worked on and off for about two years, now, and it's one of those things I never bother repairing.

Awesome!

It's raining outside now, but i'll definitely check that out in the morning.

Maybe, those hacks at meineke hit it. The only thing I did to it recently was change my battery terminals.

Thanks

If you were messing with the battery, it is possible that you shorted something out and blew a fuse...dealing with the reverse lights perhaps??

Sweet!

Yo, this site and all of you rock!

BTW, How do you adjust the headlight? I've been searching the forum and can't find it?

Yeah... I'm a newbie.

The past owner of the car was cruel to it, my engine bay is corroded.

Here's where you are going to help yourself! Click on the search button on the top header. Where it asks for which forum to search on, click on interior/exterior. Now type in adjusting lights into the search. I'll bet you get a few with that.

BTW this is also in the Haynes/Chilton's book and I believe it's in the manual as well.

Good luck,

I don't have the manual, didn't come with the car. Where can i get that book you mentioned?

Update on my progress: my back up light fuse is actually OK.

I can't find that doo-hicky DR1665 mentioned. I don't access to a lift, so i can't get up under the engine bay, and I can't find it from looking down.

Most descriptive post I could find without a picture.

It's right there as he said, the only thing with wires going to it. I believe there are 2 wires and the harness clip. it's kind of hiding under the battery tray. look and you shall find.
