So I bought a 2g with a known draining battery syndrome. I went over the entire car and found numerous shorts. Fixed everything I saw, and so I finally checked for continuity between the ground and positive battery connection (battery is not connected.)
I removed fuses individually until the multimeter no longer saw continuity. This localized the short to the 10A fuse- "I.O.D. ALIMENTATION - ROOM LAMP HABITACLE." So what does this circuit include?
Is it every single light bulb in the interior, is it the dash lights? The car had the radio ripped out per the previous owner, and the dash lights were said to have stopped working. I'm investigating further - but if anyone has some insight, I'd appreciate it!

One of my buddies has a 95 that he bought which also had a battery draining problem. we put a new alternator and battery on it and that didnt change anything so we checked all his wiring to see if there were any shorts or if it was being grounded out somewhere and it wasnt. After searching on here i found a post about a voltage regulator and it being in the ECU, so we tried my brothers ECU (who also has a 95)and the problem was fixed, so he just bought an ECU from the junk yard and not a problem since. As for the headlights and interior lights, have you tried your dimmer switch? Ive blown mine hooking up a radio before and my interior lights and headlights went out

The dimmer switch is definitely a suspect. I recall azdave discussing this on 2gnt a while ago, but that it's an expensive part. I need to figure out how to even get to it.

Ive always got them from the junk yard when if i needed one. And there easy to get to, just take off the panel under the steering wheel and you can get to the two bolts that hold it on.

It is doubtful the dimmer pot has anything to do with the drain although it is in that same circuit you are testing. The 10A fuse you refer to probably had some "memory" circuits on it though.
Now that you have fixed all the other wiring issues just how much drain is the battery still seeing when everything is off? Is it a few mA or a few hundred mA? Does it have an alarm (OEM or otherwise)?

Dave, my multimeter is dying. It's difficult for me to get good readings. You are right about memory circuits - I wasn't sure where currents would be running in normal conditions, I just wanted them to be just a few mA. *Unfortunately* the car does have an aftermarket alarm system. So until I can measure the mA, I'm going to just focus on finding out why I don't have interior lights. What I need is a map to the dash wires, ha. Any idea what the dash lights wire color/stripe is on a 95?
