#101977, "Starting a project, need some advice (kinda long...)"

Well my car is down for quite some time right now due to some asshat cutting me off in the slush and snow. Got a lot of front end damage to deal with, but it's actually an opportunity in disguise.

Here the deal, my car is going to end up getting stored up on blocks here in a month anyhow for about 7 months minimum since i'm actually heading the MCRD San Diego for USMC recruit training just after the new year. So since i don't have the money to replace my shit so it's drivable again, and won't for awhile i'm going to start a project. I'll have a decent about of "cheese" when i return, and since i'm going reserve, i'm back home after my schooling is finished. So with the project, i'm gonna spend the extra $300 more than OEM parts and go with some style vs. OEM and need somewhere to start. Looking at a drift kit, CF hood (not the kinds with huge ass nostrils, but just basic so to say), need new headlights so i'm going projectors and all this on a jet black exterior finish with some gunmetal flakes in the paint. Before all this i am planning on starting small however.....

A year ago, i initially decided to go with a blue scheme. Blue underbody, blue valve cover, blue loom, blue interior pieces but then my buddy moved up from Georgia and had already painted half his interior blue and decided upon a blue scheme as well. Well i like to be different, and my other buddy is going a red scheme on his 1G Eclipse, and my one buddy is going blue scheme on his 94 Honduh. I was thinking about switching to a silver, green or "old gold" (or something close) scheme. Silver is too common i think, green may/may not look like shit but gold seemed to sound alright. So to get to the point, how do you think a yellow scheme would look? Trying to picture in my head, and it just isn't coming to me. Gold VC, yellow loom, yellow top Optima, gold underbody, gold rims (not bright, but more a of darker/dull gold) and was thinking gold lower half panels on the interior (my stockers are black upper half, grey lower half). My initial picture seems to look pretty decent, but what would you guys think? Probably gonna start this project soon since i got nothing else better to do besides work. Also what would be the best paint to use? Been reading some of the main brands flake/crack.

Here a sample of the kinda gold i'm looking at. Yea yea, it's a wedding dress haha, but i'm just interested in the color comparison. gonna be tough to find paint like this unless anyone has any ideas.

Sorry to hear about the damage and somebody cutting you off. That sucks man. I'd say save some of that extra 'cheese' and fix everything body wise that needs it back to stock and then paint it how you want. If at the most I'd get a CF hood, some new wheels/tires and that's it.

The stock look is classy and I think it'd be appreciated much further down the road than altering for a bodykit. The yellow/gold could work if you find the right shade. I'm thinking more on the darker shade towards like a bronze almost.

Good luck out in San Diego with the training.

Yea a darker almost bronze would look pretty nice, would be easier to find also. Oh and forgot to include this picture, here what my front end currently looks like. Not the clearest because it was taken on my phone, but it make me cringe to look at it.

yeah, not a big fan of the color on an eclipse. It kinda remind me of a color scheme that you would see on some decked out show car which i personaly dislike keep is plain and simple go wtih the traditional black or tan leather stock seats looks clean as hell but thats jsut my style or preference....it also might look cool in a 30's or 40's rat rod sort of deal that is if there are even actual seats in them.

either way good luck and post pics of your final product whenever its complete.

Pretty damn close in color...if you were to clear coat it, it would probably be super ass close to matching your pretty dress! That pic of mine has no clear coat over it.

That is the base color under my kandy tangerine widebody.

The color is House of Kolor Solar Gold Pearl.

that is actually a real close pic of what i want it to look like eventually. granted with a clear coat and maybe a touch brighter too. i was gonna recolor the gray panels with this, so they'll still be black in the upper half, but other than that i'd say it's a pretty good match. thanks for giving me a pic to actually see what it might look like (even though it's on the outside) when finished before i start it.

sure. if you want it brighter, spray a white primer or base under that color and it would be brighter...
