#101426, "hatch is stuck (rusted?) shut ><"

I did some searching, here and everywhere on the net and I cant find a way to deal with this.

basically only one of the hatch arms are completely stuck, so I can sort of open it, the right side arm I can see sliding up and down, but the left is totally stuck, I tried wd40, but i dont see how it would really penetrate into there.

I cant do much of anything from the inside since my sub box is to big to get out except through the hatch and totally in the way.

I can see some screws that hold the arm to the body but its a super tight squeeze and im afraid of slipping and scratchin the body if I could even get anything in there in the first place.

anyone have any ideas how I can get this beach open??

Flip down the rear seat, and take the arm off from the inside...

if you look on the top of the backseats there are levers, just pull those to the sides and the backseats fold down, there is your access to the back and there you can get to your hatch, fix whatever needs to be fixed

But I think he is saying his sub box is in the way, so he cant really get in there from the inside. Obviously you got the subs in there thru the hatch, how did it get stuck shut? Did the car sit for a long period of time? Was it unusually hard to close last time? If it were my car I would be really pissed off at this point, so I would just pull on the hatch as hard as I could until something happened. Im almost thinking its binding up on something on the inside.

yes exactly, thank you.. I dont even have a back seat in my car I took it out, and I am aware how to fold it down... wow, lol

Anyways, Ive had my car for 6 years, and I dont have much of a reason to open the hatch since theres no room to put anything in there, and the spare tire and all that crap is gone. and yes I got to point where I was pissed and was just pulling hard as hell trying to get it loose, but brute force didnt seem to be the answer.

one of the support arms is completly stuck, I can tell by looking at it, you cant get at it from the inside, it recessed into the body and since its not moving at all, you cant barely see the arm from the inside of the car. maybe some pictures would help here.

thats as far as the hatch will open, and as you can see, from the inside doesnt offer much room to work with it even if I did know how to flip down my back seat.

I know emoji but seriously Id hope that if im competent enough to find this website I can flip down my backseat emoji and im sorry if I sounded pretentious. I am about to the hammer stage, been out messing with it for the last hour or so.

the reason I need it open is because im taking my car in a whole new direction and all the interior needs to get stripped out and painted black. trying to go for a cleaner stock look emoji

oh dont mess with the hammer, use a cutting torch, so much more fun.....plasma cutter, not we are talking

can you get the hatch up high enough to get to the torx bolt that hold the piston to the hatch? If the angle isnt good for a torx, try using an alan wrench, the one with the rounded ball end. I have used them in torx before.

Good luck kid
