hey, when i was getting parts for my car, the guy said i could basically take what i need, and i said ill take the power doors and windows off his hands because i dont like my manual ones. Now i know its possible to take the windows because of the extencive topic a few posts down from this one but are doors easy to do aswell? I have to go take everything out myself some time(he just gave me the key because he wont be around) so If it is possible, could you guys list everything i will need to take for the power doors/windows swap? Thanks alot.

do you have an ESI or an RS.....that makes a big difference as far as the dash harness is concerned.

Im attempting this myself and i just pulled the whole door and stuck it on my car. But as for the rewiring of the harness... its a complete PITA!! I'm starting to second guess this swap but it might be possible if you swap the whole wiring harness under the dash but i dont know. Couldn't you just hook up some power and ground and get them to work?? <---dumb question but my friend mentioned to me so i might as well ask.

Thats becasue the ESI's do not ahve any wiring in the dash to accomidate the power doors.

The RS is already setup in the dash to accept the power door harness. All you do is install the power door harness and add the appropriete relays and your good to go.

I'm not 100% but I believe that it doesn't matter if its RS or esi. What matters is if you have a 95-96 or a 97-99. I have a 96 base model swapped to power options and my harness was bare. The 97 RS I took a dash out of (also no power windows/locks) had all of the wiring there. Look at the harness going into your door, the one with the big connector. If there are only two wires going in you will need to take them out of the parts car(cut them out, you'll need an angled philips screwdriver for the right side). From there it's not too hard, you need relays either way and if you want mirrors you have to get the switch and the connector that goes to it (unless you already have it, I didn't).

Both My 97's had them as did other people on this forum....Search Search and search some more. You two claim your car didnt so all that proves is there are actually a few that didnt come with the wiring. That is if your car is an RS and not a converted ESI.

My 96 ESI was outfitted for power mirrors but not power locks/windows. That must mean all ESI's are setup for power mirrors right? NO it doesnt, it just means mine was setup.

mines got power mirrors, which kinda supprised me because of the lack of power windows/locks. but ill see tomorow.

Actually now that i think about it i have a 97 esi dash in my car. But im not sure if the harness for the power windows/locks is up in the dash? Ill check my rs dash and see if it has the power windows/locks connector.
