#100155, "What exactly does this control do?"

Never really knew what it did for a couple years now actually, lol. It seems to have no affect on anything either way it's switched. I know the one on the left open/closes the vents and the fresh air/recirculation switch is below the climate controls so?

This is why I'm finally asking...a little something I just made

The one on the left should open/close the left vent and the one on the right should open/close the right vent. Sounds like yours is/was broken

The one on the left opens/closes both vents, there's only one flap behind the two. This one has a cable attached to it that connects under the dash.

Im not 100% on this but i think it controls the temp of the air in the center vents? when i run the heater with it up the air comes out cooler than with it down. actually... let me see if its in the owners manuel i still have mine somewhere... i think. i'll edit this if i find it.

** Current status: 9 bent valves. and it only had 6,000 miles on it. i hope the replacement goes well. **

Lots of expensive parts, and still slow! Oh wait, it has to run to go fast.

This is coming straight from the owners manual:

Cool air dial
-While heating with the mode selection knob in the "heating", "heating and defrosting", or "defrosting" position, cool air can be delivered through the center ventilator to get rid of a glow in the upper half of the body.
-Set the dial to the "blue" position (move the dial all the way upward). Cool air can be delivered while introducing outside air or while operating the air conditioner.
-To stop the cool air flow, set the dial to the "white" position (move the dial all the way downward).

One lets ambient outside air flow through (cool fresh air) the other one controls them open or closed. If you close the abient air off you just get the heated air that would blow through.

I looked in the manual back when I first bought my car because I remember wondering the same thing.

Looks nice. What did you use as a rubber trim around your cut?

LOL!! It's an o-ring I had left over that didn't fit when I replaced the one in my turbo. I just knew I would need it someday! My cuts were straight but it wasn't "exactly" perfect and it bothered me, this was all it needed.
