#9554, "Just started car after head rebuild... having problems" Oct-26-04 08:13 AM by qc dsm tsi
I finnaly got my car together and started the other day. Of course it ran like shit, needs to get timed, and idle set and so on. The problem that I am having is that when i started it up and had it running for a little bit, it was smoking. White smoke is coming out the exaust. Just a little bit when it is "idling" and it really comes out if u rev on it.
As far as what I had done to the car is... Stock head rebuild from BJ's, all new gaskets of course.
This is the first time the car has been started in literally a year, I bought it last winter for $500 because the timing jumped and destroyed the valves. So I finally got enought time/money to start working on her a few months ago.
PS there was just a tiny bit of gas in the tank when i started it - under the E. So when i got it running i took it up to the gas station and put 5gal in and some of that injector/engine cleaner shit from prestone.
Any ideas on what it could be, maybee just working all the shit out.
PSS The block was sitting open for a few months this spring and when i put the head on I used my air compressor and blew the shit out off all the ports and everything. Not sure if that matters any, im just trying to list everything I can think of.
Thanks in advance /end of long winded explanation!

white smoke is water or coolant. It's probably just moisture that was in the exaust from sitting. Oil smoke is blue and fuel is black just to ease your mind. Get that shit in time!
