#8519, "more load on the car - less boost? WTF" May-22-05 01:32 PM by BumpinTalon
alright, my buddy went to the track and did a couple runs, best he could manage was a 15.6, which is what it did before a whole bunch of mods. He said it feels way down on power, almost stock, I can vouch for that since on the ride home it pulled nowhere near as hard as it used to. he said it usually boosts around 14psi. lookin at the (aftermarket) boost gauge, it boosted less and less in every successive gear (13ish in 1st, 12ish in second, 10ish in third). going up a steep hill it boosted only 10psi through the first three guys, but on a slight downhill it got to 14psi again. this is on a 1G TSi AWD with 3" turbo back exhaust, all the free mods, and a few other things I can't recall off the top of my head. I'm thinkin its a leak or something, but I don't drive a 1G TSi AWD. any ideas?

Yeah, that sounds REALLY bad for the mods you said it has. I had a friend a while ago that bought a raggedy busted up POS TSi AWD with only a 2.5" DP, 3" turboback, the free mods and a boost controller and he ran a low, low 14...
And thinking about it now, I'm pretty sure he had boost leaks out the ass and an old worn out 14b with about 130,000 miles on it.
Heh, and now that I think of it, he also had a broken drivetrain with no AWD... it was just FWD because the diff was broken. He took it to a shop, but I think they just emptied the diff and called it a day.
