So I have had a idle problem/ missfire ever since I got my car up and running.

Well just 2 days ago I was driving the car, and I noticed it was stuttering when I accelerate. This has never happened before. If I rev up the car, it really pops and sputters.

So I got my buddies logger and we hook it up. He has MMCD on it, and we shut off the injectors 1 by 1. At idle we shut off the injectors 1-3 and the car bogged down. And on the 4th one, the car did not change at all. Then we held the car at 2,000rpm and did the same process, and the same exact results, 1-3 bogged down, and on the 4th it did not change.

Here are my ?'s

1, On mmcd logicaly you would expect "4" injector, would be the 4th cylinder. Is this correct?

2, Should I expect internal damage do to running on 3 injectors?!

Im going to the bone yard tomorrow, to get some injectors, to make sure this is my problem.

Thanks for your input guys.

Update,

I started the car and let it idle, then I pulled the spark plug wire from #4 and the idle did not change. Then I pulled the spark plug wire from #3 and the car bogged.

So I moved the injector from the #4 location, to the #3 location, and repeated the above steps. This time the car bogged when I pulled the spark plug wire on #4, but did nothing when I did the same to #3.

Are there any other factors that would cause the above results, besides having a bad injector?!

im guessing you swapped the wiring harness when you moved the injector. i would say it is just a faulty injector.

as far as damage goes, it all pretty much depends if the #4 injector is giving you fuel at all or not...

if it is, your cat (if you have one) is trashed. If its not, i'd be careful of detonation if just a little bit of fuel gets in there and it actually ignites. Personally, i'd figure out a way to turn the spark off permanently w/o actually pulling the wire. You could pull the wire, but I did that personally once and set my car on fire. Other than that, it should be fine--temporarily.. emoji
