So the car continues to smoke pretty bad. I finally did a compression check, ended up being 165-165-160-160. So maybe it is the turbo... Anything I can do to check the seals? What else could it be? Id assume the headgasket/rings were okay after seeing those compression results.

How old is the head ? I just pulled my head and saw it was in terrible shape. My block was 145 across the board too.

When my 90 awd was smoking bad, I looked in the intake side of the turbo, and it was obviously bad.



yours prob wont be that bad. Check the shaft play as well

emoji Is that just the result of shaft play or did you suck something in there. I always figured the ends of the blades would be rough up but those have some pretty big chunks taken out.

Nothing was put in the turbo, that is from SERIOUS shaft play. It made a wicked cool whistle though!!!!!

try a leakdown test if your turbo's shaft play is ok. A friend of mine recently had his ring lands on piston #1 crack. his numbers 95-95-95-20 lol. what color of smoke are you getting btw?
