That's right... we got the motor running last night about midnight and all I have to say is HOT DAMN! Out of the 10 or so DSMs that we own, that's the smoothest running 4G63 we've ever built. This engine seems to absolutely LOVE the MegaSquirt for FUEL and SPARK.
Here's what we did to my otherwise stock 1996 Eclipse GS-T: - Compelete 1990 1G 6-bolt long block - 2G accessories - 2G ported exhaust manifold - 14B turbocharger - 1G side-mount intercooler - completely removed MAS/MAF - Fidanza aluminum flywheel - ARP head studs - Fuel and Spark controlled by MegaSquirt (using a stock 1G CAS, and the stock ignitor and coil pack) - MSnS 024s9 firmware - Innovate Motorsports LC-1 wideband controller
We should have it on the road for tuning tonight and I'll likely drive it to work tomorrow. God bless Bowling and Grippo. This is my 4th MegaSquirted DSM. lol

Well since nobody else has said anything, I'll give you the big .
Did you get it tuned pretty well? I don't know much about Megasquirt but some of the most knowledgeable Megasquirt people are here in Nebraska and have quite a few cars running on it, including DSM's.

Awesome. We drove it around tonight and it runs better than it ever did in stock form... perfect actually... you guys wouldn't believe it.
One thing we had a major issue with was the throttle position signal. We tried EVERYTHING. Something was really wrong with the signal and I have a feeling that it's related to not having a Mass Air Flow Meter on the engine. So we unplugged the TPS all together! No more TPS. We're using MAPdot for accel/decel and it works a LOT better than TPSdot (for those who don't know, MAPdot uses a Manifold Absolsute Pressure reading, from the MAP sensor, for acceleration enrichment and deceleration adjustments to fuel.) MAPdot is much more effective than TPSdot on a boosted engine.
The MegaSquirt triggers the ignition perfectly and the ignitor stay cool at idle. We're using 3.5ms running dwell (probably turn that up a bit tomorrow when the boost goes up). Super stable CAS inputs and we're using 20 degrees timing advance at idle and 30-40 degrees during cruise. Sound about right?
As soon as the clutch is broke in, we'll be turning the boost WAY up.

I know I sure am glad to see the 95GST running, & running well. Not bad for a daily driver, we just have to crank UP the boost a little now. Sure was a fun car to work on. Now awaiting to start the next one......

Thanks Matt... you're right, it was definetely a fun car to work on. I couldn't have done it without ya... you've become quite a 4G63 genious over the last couple years.
However, I failed emissions pretty bad yesterday. I was 3 times over both limits. I figured I would fail though, because the fuel is COMPLETELY UNTUNED... I think the A/F Ratio is in the 11's at idle. LOL! I can't get the LC-1 to calibrate, though... so that's my project for today (along with getting the head off of the GS).
Does anyone know what the ignition timing is on a stock motor (1990)? At idle? At WOT? The base timing is 5 degrees, right? Anyone have datalogs?
