ok, this is the 2nd time this problem has happened. Driving around 65-70mph on interstate. suddenly feeling is like the locking pulse of ABS under HARD braking, I have lost control both times. Its like the whole drivetrain is locking up. then after I stop check eveerything out, I am able to drive it home. The first time the happened was around 2500 miles ago, now it did it again. The first time the occured I trailered the car home, pulled the transfer case, rearend, driveshaft, axles etc. I examined the transfercase inside & out, along with the rearend. Both were in great shape, I was expecting many broken parts. There was NONE. reassembled, everything worked fine. now today, it does the same shit it did last time. this time I hit something avoiding another car. Someone please help me figure out this problem. Its getting to be real dangerous.

Sounds like a problem with the transfer case locking up. There was a recall on the transfer case some years ago for the same problem. Might want to look into that and see if thats your problem.

Yep make sure the transfer case recall was done. Take the car to a dealer. I think even if the recall was done they still have to replace the transfer case if it is locking up on the highway.

Thanks guys, I took the transfer case off of the car, took it apart again, looks like new.could something in the tranny be causing this. also, my carrier bearing a total just, alot of slack, could the drivshaft be getting in a bind from accel, decel. under full accel. I do have ALOT of vibration/thumping. I am going to fill in the carriers this evening. could the drivshaft be causing all of this? should I still take the car to mitsu, the gsx in med. modified, could this void the recall.

Call the dealer, give them the VIN, and ask if the recall was done. If not, take it in. Mods won't affect a recall. If not, take it in anyway and ask to have the transfer case looked at because it is causing problems very similar to those which the recall was created to fix.
