Well i test drove a 91 tsi today...seemed slow..the turbo had a wierd wine to it. This mean it's about done..? Or is that how the 14g sounds...? thx

97 Rs 5sp
-Intake
-Front upper strut bar
-Tint 20% o yeah
-Coilovers/KYB ADJ
-60mm TB
-P&P intake mani
-Cat Back System.
-Funny Rims?? dont lie

what kind of wind are you talking about....... the normal spin up wind or something rubbing. check the shaft play on the turbo that is the best way

a new 14b would cost you around $150 so dont really worry if the turbo is going out, but that thengine isnt leaking oil etc

you will also want to pull off the pipe behind the turbo to see if oil is in their. that means the gasket thingies inside have been blown through.

i have a 14b that has oil around the seal. is it cheaper to rebuild that turbo or buy a new 14b? can i harm anything while its leakin a little oil?

itll just smoke and youll have to refill oil, and well, the turbo will die soon, just buy another or rebuild it........

It is cheaper to rebuild than to buy new. TRE sells rebuild kits I believe. At least they used to. If not, I am sure FP or someone similar can do it for you.
