#6154, "can I get away with a CFDF clutch and Xact Flywheel?"

hey all,

I'm in a bind...supposed to be at school in a week and the stocker clutch just bought it. It was slipping a little this week, then I limped it home after the fact, so i'm sure the flywheel is toast too . Oh well, planning on replacign it anyways. Question: I think the 2600 might just be too much clutch (did some searching/research). If i'm trying to get to low 13's (maybe high 12's? pipe dream) after a turbo swap. Will a CFDF clutch from Road Race with the Xact flywheel be enough, or is it garbage? I know the ACT 2600 is the tried and true, but my baby's already got "da tick" and I dont' think its the lifters, but i'm telling myself otherwise every day .

So, is the CFDF clutch garbage? 1/4 mile MAYBE once a week, prob more like every 3, and daily driven, sometimes quite hard.

thanks!
vandy

I think the CFDF is closer to 2400lbs, ---trying to find a happy medium. I'm pretty sure i'd go through an ACT 2100 pretty quickly, but does anyone know if one is better than the other?

I've heard bad stuff about the CFDF, such as it is not a real true Dual Friction clutch and it's crap Go with the ACT 2100. For FWD, the 2100 will be more than enough for 12s. People have run 11s on the 2100 with AWD. Like Tony said, tried and true.

I have the cfdf. It grabs strong and doesn't feel as harsh as most higher stage clutches. My car came with the cfdf in it, but if I had to choose I would have went with the act 2100 just because of all the good reviews. I sure that the cfdf is nicer to have in traffic though.

the centerforce clutch isnt as bad as people say they are i love, it pedal feels great, slips really easy, and holds great, i have 18s with nt555's let em burn, clutch has had plenty of lauches, the beauty part of that clutch is that when the disc is dead, put an act 6 puck on it and its even more bad ass.( that has been done alot) the plate is closer to 2500 pounds not 2400, but it doesnt feel it, the surface of the disc is more like a 8-12 puck on one side, and like an 0em on the other, i like the clutch, but i would not recommend it in an awd, the disc would go to fast, but in fwd, its the best for the slipping abilty.
i have over 350 crank HP for sure Need to dyno badly.
so it should be good for your purposes.

so I went with the 2100, installed today, the pedal feel is alot lighter than stock. Kinda worried. ALso, had a shop do it because I'm leaving for school tomorrow, and those jerkoffs at the shop took the car out on a joyride..I checked the memory on teh guages and the egt's were around 800 C and the boost spiked at around 18 psi...bastards...so i mentioned it to the shop owner, hopefully he'll do SOMETHING.. kinda sucks, I liked that mechanic...did my timing belt on the 420a elcipse, and lots of other stuff that I wasn't comfortable with or had a time crunch on.

Vandy

For teh record, all mods on my car were done by me except the clutch/flywheel and exhaust (got a great deal on teh exhaust from my buddy, he did it at meinike for like 50 bucks)
