Got a friend, just picked up a 93 eclipse GST. Got it for $700 cause it pops out of 5th and reverse. He took it to a local tranny shop who said they could fix it but it would happen again in a few months. Then they quoted him $1500 for a new tranny.
Any ideas???

happened on my 2G too..My tranny was shot to pieces..*lolo* Had to buy a new one...

I ended up fiding a fix for it before it gets too bad. It's basically just a loose nut. It's on VFAQ under "moving shifter".

Shifts fine. Just pops out of those two gears if you let off the throttle and then step on it again.
