I want to post this in the ATX forum, but isn't it just for 420A ATX issues? If this goes there, feel free to move it.
In any case, I drained the tranny this AM and refilled with some Castrol Dexron III or something and the wierd shifting I was wanting to fix is still there.
Symptoms: Upon cold start up (or even after sitting a while after warmed up), tranny will shift into D just fine. Under both easy and hard accel, tranny shifts into 2nd fine as well. It's the third gear change that seems to have problems. Torque converter will spin and I'll jump about 1500-2000rpm before clunking back into third. After that, she goes into OD smooth as silk. It's only the 2-3 shift that seems to have any problems, and even then, they go away after about 10 minutes of driving.
I didn't pull the filter to inspect it, since the old fluid was pretty nasty looking/smelling and I didn't get all that much out when I drained it. I'm thinking a worn out torque converter would shift bad all the time, and a clogged filter would do the same since neither are gear specific to my knowledge.
Could this be an excuse to do a MT swap? While I'm at it, could this be the time to turbo the 4g63?
Thanks!
