#5799, "Is this just a horrible idea???"

Jeff, I talked to you about this and I still cannot decide what to do. I need a few more opinions.

I am looking to move, but before my car can go with me, it needs 2 major components fixed. 1) The transmission, looking at around $1400-1600 to fix it. 2) Clutch.

I already have the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, it is slipping. I just found out I can use the disc off of an ACT 2600 with that pressure plate and only spend $120 on the disc, and $35 on a flywheel resurface. Or I can buy the entire ACT 2600 kit for $375 shipped.

I am trying to save some money before I move, do you guys think it is just a bad idea to go with just the 2600 disc, instead of the whole kit. The centerforce pressure plate is rated at 2500lbs so it isn't much less than the ACT anyway.

What are your opinions on this??? Thanks

why kind of flywheel do you have? Resurfacing may not be an option, depending on how long the CFDF has been slipping, esp. with the power you make...

Also, I kinda think 200 bucks is chump change compared to having to go through the work of replacing a clutch twice if you end up needing the pressure plate later, but i'm not sure how durable they are. I just get images of the grenaded SPEC clutches the NT guys use from the pits and it sends shivers down my spine...

just buy the kit. I always end up with a mess when I start mixing and matching shit.

ACT designs components to go with their own as does centerforce (clutch pressure plate combo) Don't mix and match. You'll just have to drop the tranny later when the mismatched components give out.

It's running again shitheads.
