Well I finally got my car back from my mechanic. Which is great and all. I had a new to me tranny put in, new clutch, flywheel, axles, and timing belt job done.

The old tranny ended up having a hole in and was cracked and the clutch was fried crispy. Guess that’s what I get for buying a DSM from a guy who is into hondas.

My problem is that the new tranny is super hard to shift I really have to jam the gears in. The guy who I bought it from assured me that it was in perfect condition and only had 6000 miles on it. I think I will call b/s on that one.

I love the car with the new clutch and every thing it really flies now, but I don’t know if I want to put more money into the old talon. What should I do? Should I just throw in the towel or just save up and get a shep tranny. All that money to have all that work done to result into nothing. Kind of depressing now that I think about it. Even my mechanics felt bad that I got a crappy tranny but they gladly took my money.

I'm not sure what to tell you. I got scammed on some injectors over ebay a while back, and I felt cheated and pissed, and almost threw in the towell on my swap, too. My best advice to you is to get a beater, if possible, and save up for a shep tranny. In the end its worht it, but sometimes you just gotta take a break from DSM's before they drive you insane...

best of luck man

Have you tried a decent tranny fluid, like syncroshift II? It isn't a cure all, but might make it alot better...

(p.s. it sounds like the syncros are all bad, which is a sign of an abused tranny on its way out--)

It has syncroshift in it. I figure the syncros were bad after driving it. I have my ESI which I drive every day so its not like I dont have a car, but it just pisses me off to get ripped off and spend all that money.
