#5517, "4g63nt tranny question"

I was going to go to the local pick-n-pull. And i was wondering if they dont have a 2.0L 4g63nt auto tranny. If i can use any other tranny. Like the turbo tranny or 1.8L nt tranny(the one i relly want to know about) and if there are any modification that are need to put them on like switch bellhouseing or and thing. This is for a 1G.

Thanks for the help.

Heres a list of the tranny part numbers,

Search on DSMTuners, theres a big thread about auto tranny compatibility.
I know you cant use a turbo auto tranny on a NT car without using the Turbo TCU.
My EX GF's NT Talon tranny was starting to slip and we went through this exact same thing. She ended up selling the car before it went out so I never actually replaced it, Just did some research on it.

Im not going to pretend to know much about this at all, because I've never done any tranny work, but I DO know that your NT will be 10x less fun if you put a turbo transmission on there. Especially a turbo AWD one because of the gearing.

I have a manual tranny on my 1g N/T, and used a 1.8 tranny for a year (bolted right up).

I in fact have a Turbo tranny now (since my 1.8 couldn't take the abuse)and I like it better. I had to change the front and rear engine brackets to move the motor forward so the bellhousing doesn't sit on the rear crossmember, and had to use a turbo flywheel and clutch. I assume you will find it the turbo auto tranny is much bigger too, if you attempt the swap. Final gear is longer, which means lower RPMS on highway trips, and interestingly enough 1st is actually a little shorter. I can't seem to find the chart online that shows the ratios right now, but I believe it is on the DSM Manual CD. This of course, could be different on the auto trannies.

No pics of the 2g yet....
