#5506, "really loud clanky noise from tranny"

i push the clutch in, its as if the clutch is not in and it grinds.

i start it in gear clutch pushed in, it pushes forward and clanky clanky

shifting is somewhat hard, but it will shift..i cannot stop without shutting it off.

fluids are all good, master cylinder/slave cylinder are all new, i welded a nut onto the nut on the master cylinder adjustment piece and its fine, only thing i can think of is either pp bolts backed out or tob is bad. whats your take on this?

Did you just replace the master and slave cylinders? Sounds like you need to adjust the rod under the dash.

master was replaced awhile ago, slave was replaced with clutch in august 05. when i have it in gear and start it, it makes that horrid sound, and once i start going over 5 or so it stops, and as i slow with the clutch in, it starts making racket again. i just took the t-case off and exhaust.

Try adjusting the clutch master cylinder rod under the dash first, then go from there if that doesn't fix it. It may take a few adjustments to get it right.

First off, I would have to say do NOT drive the car until this is fixed! There is no point in you breaking anything else in the meantime. Is this a random occurance, as in it was fine before, but now it is doing this, or did you just do something on your car that could have done this? First, check the adjustment, as suggested. I'm assuming you are not having a problem with air in the lines, but just to be sure I would bleed the lines again. Even though it was recently replaced (or not), make sure that you are not leaking fluid from the master cylinder. When you go to adjust the pedal, just feel up there where the rod pushes into the cylinder. If there is any wetness, than time for a new one. If none of these helps, then time to pull the tranny. Did you replace the throw-out bearing when you did the clutch with a new OEM one? This could very well be your problem. Hopefully it is not an internal tranny problem (shift fork, etc). Oh, also just make sure that your linkage is not messed up in any way. Look on top of the tranny and verify that they are working as they should. Good luck!

Sucks dude, but at least you found the problem. Any reason why you were running the 3 puck in the first place? I would run a street disk and be done with it. Oh, and sorry about the Ipod emoji
