Ok I was told by some people that if you get a 95 model talon or Eclipse and the sticker under the hood says DSM insted of Mitsubishi it has a 94 engine in it and you don't have to worry about crankwalk. Other people told me that anything after 92 gets crankwalk cause that's when they went with the 7 bolt motors. What's the truth on this?

it is my understanding that it was only 2g that were prone, regardless of the sticker on the firewall.

dude, seriously, this has been explained so many times, it's rediculous. 95's with an early build date still had the "DSM" sticker under the hood. These cars had '94 motors in them. They were in fact 7 bolts, but not all 7 bolts were prone to crankwalk, just the "american" ones. All 2g's had "american" 7 bolts except for the 95's with a "DSM" sticker under the hood. These had '94 motors.

The ones with the DSM stickers are the early 95's that were using the leftover 94 engines.

Edit: Never mind what he said^^

Ok here's the deal. Not all 7 bolt engines had crank walk problems, only 95+ this is because of the type of oil squirters. 94- had squirters that were fed from an oil galley, 95+ were fed from the mains and used a different type of squirter. reguardless of what you may have read it is NOT because of the main girdle.

it doesnt matter, even 6 bolt engines have crankwalked. its really not specific at all. 92-94 7 bolt engines crankwalk too. the oilsquirters are not what causes crankwalk, other wise i think almost everyone with a 2g would have swutched them out by now.

It really has not been proven either way. There are a lot of differences between the years and blocks that are up for debate.

that post did not say anything about the causes of crankwalk, just an easy way to tell.

and early engines 6 bolt and early 7 are like 1 percen of crankwalked blocks, I don't know how you can even use that as an example. I am not making a hypothisis. We make some changes to the thrust setup on the 2G blocks and I have never had an engine come back. I can get in to some drawn out explination about why this is the case, but I don't need to. I have seen and fixed the problem many times.

I have heard this discussion also especially since my 95 was built in march 94 and has the sticker you all are referring to. I won't say it's less prone to CW but I want to believe it;)
