i just recently bought a 92 mitsubishi galant for my winter car.... its a 2.0 4 cylindar SOHC engine.... i noticed on the firewall that it says 4g63 as the engine...is this the same block? just wondering.... i actually need an engine for this and was just wondering what to ask for....


14b custom turbo kit, modified starion front mount, 9.6:1 JE pistons/Eagle rods....running 12psi

Yes there is a SOHC version of the 4g63. You can fit a DOHC version with little work.

what kind of work....i think i might be able to get a DOHC engine for cheaper than this damn engine.... is there a write up on this or has anyone done it....whats needed...thanks

Yeah, i have a 93 Galant with the same motor....if you ever get rid of the SOHC head, let me know...i need one..this is my winter beater that i got for 300 bucks..its in great shape all beit the engine...180,000 miles will do that haah..and yeah, its the 4g63 block.


13.5 @108 MPH-2.2 60ft(stupid FWD!)
S16G @ 18 PSI/FMIC/Running on MegaSquirt II (Now with sequential

yea...this is my winter beater also...hopefully ill have my turbo in by the end of winter.... i got mine for $200 and it needs an engine... i wanted to know if i could put the DOHC engine in just incase i could find one cheaper..... i probably will be selling the head soon, once i find an engine

buy a used 7bolt, you can get them cheap

so is the dohc block the same as the sohc block?...can i just buy a new block and swap it out?.... and what is all the 7bolt/6 bolt stuff.... im a 420a guy, dont know much about the 4g63, but soon i will.
