#2531, "Don't know what to do to my car next!!!!"

Confusion has set in, and now I don't know what I want to do to my car now...aaaahhhhhhhhhh! No not really, but I would like to know if it would be better to get a FMIC first or an EVOIII turbo. Right now I'm on the stock 14b with...here it goes...255 fp(and rewired), SAFCI, dsmchips.com stage 2 chip, apexi N1 down pipe and cat back, mbc set at 15psi, K&N air filter with no air box, oh and egt and boost gauges. On that setup I ran a 14.3 at 90mph on 91 pump gas, does that sound about right or maybe a little slow? Oh and I forgot to mention that I have 650 injectors ordered and they should be here in a couple of days. So in conclusion I really need to know if you all think it would be wiser to get a front mount or turbo first. I'm thinking a FMIC, but I just want to make sure I'm making the best decision. Also if a FMIC is the best decision, where could I find the best deal on a good one? Thanks a lot.

Eeehhhh, I would probably go with the FM. Just because the 14b is capable of a little more power and the side, well, it may have a little to spare, but heatsokes pretty fast. And then you'll definately be ready for a new turbo down the road.

There's alot of places to get an intercooler, I don't know the best.

. And by a little more power, I mean quite a bit more. They CAN reach into the 11's. But it's just easier to get the bigger turbo for the power.

Ok, thanks a lot guys that's pretty much what I needed to know, now one more thing I was looking at these 2 intercoolers from slow boy racing...http://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=122 and i'm guessing the bigger intercooler here would be quite a bit better, but why is it only about 30 bucks more? so basicaly I guess I'm asking which is better? Thanks again

They are both the same size but the first one is for a 1g and the second is for a 2g. That is a massive intercooler and I doubt you would need one that big, but I don't know what you plan on doing.

no there's 3 on that page fist one is a bigger one for a 1g second is for a 2g and third is a smaller one for a 1g

bigger one=core 24" long, 12" high and 3.5" wide
smaller one=core 24" long, 7.75" high, and 3.5" wide

my ultimat goal is to break into the 11's somewhat reliably. I know it won't be easy and it will take a LONG time, but that's my dream right now. I'm guessing the smaller one would be fine for that, but I need some expert help.

Oh I didn't even see that, WTF? LOL

Both could probably get the job done.

14.3 is very slow for those mods. I was running 13.2 with basically the exact same mods.

You will definitely want to get all of the proper supporting mods before upgrading your turbo. Fuel, FMIC, etc. The turbo should be the very last thing you upgrade.

yup that's what I was thinking, but wasn't really too sure. I'm not positive I was getting a very good spark on one cylinder because right before the run I changed the spark plugs to the one heat range colder, and when I pulled out one of the wires the wire broke and came out of the crimp connector that snaps onto the spark plug, so I put it back in and tried to crimp it as good as I could with my pliers. Do you think that would have made much of a difference? Also I gapped the colder spark plugs to .035 and somebody told me after that that since they were colder they sould be gapped to like .028 or something like that. Does anybody know this? If that's not it then does anybody know what else it could be, and also how do you know if you have a bad knock sensor? thanks for all the help so far, please keep it coming.

Yes, .029

They get overly sensitive while they're on their way out. Do you have a logger? Is your timing getting pulled?

I bought some new wires the other day, the problem was that i changed the plugs at the track, and there wasn't any place nearby to get new wires. I was pretty mad to say the least. I regapped the plugs tonight to about .028. I'm also thinking that my knock sensor is going bad because it is super sensitive, and yes i do have a pocketlogger, and yes it is pulling timing pretty bad. Other than that stuff...any ideas why my car doesn't seem to be quite up to it's optimum preformance level?
