Originally posted by HybriDSMBoost Creep is a phenomemon that comes about that leads to an uncontrollable addition of boost that really has no limit. This often happens when adding a large diamter exhaust (without porting a smaller turbo), or having a wastegate that is too small for the turbo. Boost creep comes about as a result of not being able to bypass enough of the exhaust gas around the turbine compressor wheel (which would normally be expelled via the wastgate). When you have a manual boost controller, it sets the pressure level at which the wastegate opens, which 'tells' the turbo when to crate another pathway for the exhaust gases to siphon off the gases that will inherently create more boost. When that opening (wastegate) is too small, more gases go across the turbine wheel creating more boost. The same is said for the larger exhaust but that creates creep by drastically reducing backpressure which creates a large gradient which allows exhaust gases to be "sucked" across the turbine when they should be exiting around the wheel to the exhaust (or to the atmosphere with and external wastegate). When this happens, the turbo makes boost infinitely until it can no longer flow anymore, or you shift. Either way, you are victim to alot of problems with the car when you are making more boost that you can supply fuel for. As for your question about "the best way to go about making 320 hp". Since I was nice in answering the boost creep question in detail, I'll take the liberty of giving tough love now: By asking a vague question such as that, it is readily apparent that you should spend about two weeks reading the entire
www.vfaq.com website and anything else you can find in tech articles at
www.dsm.org and Talon Digest, or in the FAQ section of tuners (although the people at tuners are mostly underwhelming, there is plenty of info out there.) "The following sites are gospel: -vfaq.com -teamnabr.com (DO NOT post there, but just use it to search. They are the smartest DSMers out there but have very strict rules and I don't even post there much but just research there in the DSM Tech Archives) -dsm.org these sites are good to get your feet wet, research and ask questions in the appropriate forums: -dsmtuners.com" We cannot at all help you "make 320 hp" when alot of the things we reccommend will fall on unlearned ears. That is fine that you are new to the 4G63, but hold off on buying ANYTHING until you can talk with knowledge about the ins and outs of your car. I can tell you from experience what working on a car with no real knowledge can create in terms of headaches and a multitude of missteps. You can make plenty of power on the stock 14b and I would suggest you keep that for a while to learn on the car. You'll get alot of performance out of it and you'll avoid the common mistake of buying turbo and/or intercooler first and wondering why the car runs terribly and/or blows up. People are running 11's on the 14b (AWD though), so you should be very happy with it for a while while you are learning. I love SBR, and RRE for parts. They are cheap and have great service. MachV, Extreme Motorsports and Buschur are super expensive relative to their competitiors and of those three, Buschur makes the best parts to buy (MachV just buys Buschur parts and resells them). "Good vendors who have specialized in DSMs for some time, or are current great people to do business with: -Road Race Engineering (

www.partznet.com - the only place to get anything OEM) now it is
www.jnztuning.com Conicelli went under and has been replaced by JNZ) Other good places to get parts: -Victory Performance (
