#12843, "temp sensors for autometer guages."

I want to hook up my other 2 guages today. For the water temp guage, the sensor looks to be the same size/type as the stock one. If I were to swap them, could I attach both wires to it and get accurate readings? (stock guage in cluster and aftermarket water temp)

The tranny temp is already wired in, I just have to drain tranny fluid and replace plug with sensor.

Stock guage reads normal (needle 1/2 way warmed up)
New guage reads 210^.

I just tied into the wire to the stock sensor cause I was too lazy to pull everything apart. I'm going to replace the sensor with my new one and wire everything together correctly to see if it's the same.
