#12480, "forgot to find TDC before i removed timing belt... Problem?"
Dammit... ok guys heres the deal, this is the secont timing belt ive done. I just got a Pristine 92 TSI AWD timing belt victim. the guy broke the belt and put one on thinking it would run... wrong... So he sold it to me for $500 anyway, I took the belts off today and afer i took the timing belt off i realized i didnt find TDC for piston 1 before i took the belt off. I did it right the forst time i did it with my 91 GST. Is this going to be a problem?? If so how do i fix it?? The head is off right now. Hepl... I wanna get it running soon, all i have to wait for is the machine shop to resurface the head. Help! ~Luke

will that work? Before you take the head off youre suipposed to find TDC on the exhaust stroke by making sure the rockers are loose. Can i just get #1 to the top and line up the timing mark that way? will i be able to see if its on the exhaust or intake stroke with out the head on or does it matter... just as long as i have the head off it shouldnt matter should it?? In the manual section under Head installation, it doesnt say anything about finding TDC before you install it, it just says to line up timing marks. Are you supposed to find TDC just when you take it off for some reason?? My thinking was as long as i line the timing marks up right it should be ok (becaust the timing marks would find TDC by lining them up)... am i right?? Help...
