I installed my fuel pump yesterday. When it comes time to put it back together, there is a rubber piece that tucks under the plastic screw top. The problem is the piece seems to be bigger then when it came out. It didn't seem like it was that big when taking it out but now i cannot get the plactic twist top back on. Does this mean i need a new gasket or is/was that piece naturally that big? I out the twist top back on w/o the rubber gasket for now and started leaking alittle fuel today. My understanding is that it is a vapor seal and not a gasket to hold fuel in. Did anyone else experience this problem and offer any advice?

Is the piece your talking about the one that has the harness plugged into it and bolts to the top (has 2 nuts)? edit: after re-reading your post, I have no idea what piece you're talking about. I just swapped a walbro 190 in last night and don't remember seeing anything that matches your description. the onlt rubber piece I remember is the one that goes on the bottom of the pump that the little metal bracket goes over an the one on top that gets held down by the bolts.
