i need to know cause my friend and I are going to pick up a 1g non-turbo with a broken timing belt for $200. If it is non-interfernce then we will be ok just to throw a new timing belt on it but if it is interference then we need to replace the motor. Does anyone know? We were looking for a project car for the summer and this may have to be it if we cant just fix it and sell it.

straight out of vfaq "With the exception of the 1.8L NT engine, DSM engines are of the 'interference' style. This means that the pistons and valves occupy the same space"
