#10452, "oil return is leaking, need some advice"
Jun-23-04 05:15 PM by chrysler kid

alright i am using the 2g return line on the 14b and i accidentaly broke off the bolt tightening the line too tight (omfg i was and still am pisseed) so there is half a screw in the oil return spot in the turbo, so being the man of action that i am i use a sheet metal screw and lodged it in there good. i had to dremel the bolt holes closer togeather for it to fit on the 14b. so i start the car and oil is pouring out where the return line bolts to the turbo and im really to pissed to work on it anymore. i have everything on and everything in and a head full of steam.

anyways im really pissed, i have everything togeather perfectly except the drain line, and im out $30 for a case of mobil 10w30 synthetic. if you guys have any advice for me please let me hear it. im really frazzled and am just going to let the car sit on jackstands for 2 weeks till i get back from vacation. im thinking of just buying a 16g or another 14b because i dont feel like drilling the half screw out.

also im going to need that 1g return line, ill pay ya for it

and to run without a boost controller i just need to connect the tube on the j-pipe to the wastegate right?

yes on the tube to the j-pipe/wastegate for running w/o a BC.

You're gonna have to remove the turbo to fix the prob...the exact same thing happened to me. you can *try* to use a screw extractor, but my guess is that you're going to have to take it to a machine shop. Try to do it now and have them work on it over vacation---it shoudn't be too expensive.

while the turbo is off re-tighten your feed lines (oil)...I had to do it with the turbo on, it sucked.

Note the screw extractor is like 8 bucks by itself, and they break frequently, so I don't recommend using them. If you broke off the screw by putting it in too far and bottoming it out, TFB, there is NO way an extractor will work. It turned a $20 machine shop job into $75 cause the fuckers are hardened cobalt or something like that.

After everything is said and done use case hardened hex screws instead of the crap that comes with install kits and USE WASHERS against the oil return pipe.

Good luck! emoji

Once the gasket surface and original bolts configuration are compromised, it allows fluid to leak alot. No matter what you do, it will leak unless you just have it helicoiled out and redo stock config. bolts. Just have it machined out and redo it. Cheapest, and least headache.

Sorry to hear that happened though.
